What one should know about ‘Allintitle’ & ‘Intitle’ Operators

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

The ALLINTITLE operator looks for the keywords you’re searching for all in the title of a web page and only returns results that match. This helps a web user to find specific pages relating to the keywords entered. Let’s say you are looking for web pages for ‘Best SEO Tools’ using allintitle operator, then the command would be like – allintitle:Best SEO Tools

When you query Google with something like [allintitle:seo tools] you will get results with both the words mentioned in the pages’ titles (exact match).

If you search [intitle:seo tools] using intitle operator, Google will only find pages where “seo” is mentioned in the page title and “tools” can be mentioned anywhere in the page (including the title).

Thus [allintitle:seo tools] = [intitle:seo intitle:tools]

If you want to search for both words in the title but not exactly in this sequence, you have two options:

  • [allintitle:seo * tools] = [intitle:"seo * tools"] = search for both the words in the title tag but including some other word(s) in-between. You can go further with the wildcard search: [intitle:"* seo * tools *"] and use your own wildcard combinations.

To make all of this simpler, Siteopsys offers the Keyword Competition Analyzer, which gives you results for:

  • Total Pages
  • Total Pages with exact match
  • Total Pages having keyword in title; and
  • Total Pages having keyword in title with exact match

– all in very little time, for up to 30 keywords in a go. Give it a try!

Keyword Density Analyzer

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Keyword density is one of the factors search engine crawlers consider to determine the optimization of a webpage. Earlier, this was the only aspect which was judged to calculate the optimization level of a page. However with time, search engines started considering several other factors in the algorithms they use to give a quality score to a page, in terms of its optimization for a particular keyword.

Though we know that there is a combination of dynamics which contribute to a page’s quality score, keyword density is still one of the important constituents. In simple terms it is the percentage of occurrence of a particular keyword with respect to the total number of words on the page.

The Keyword Density Analyzer lets you determine this in a very detailed way. It presents the frequency of the occurrence of the particular keyword along with the total words and density in all of the following parameters:

  • Title
  • Meta Keyword
  • Meta Description
  • Image Names
  • Image Alt Text
  • Image Title Attributes
  • Anchor Text
  • Anchor Text Title Attributes
  • Table/Div Summary Attributes
  • Visible Page Text

This presents a very understandable representation of how well the page is optimized for the entered keyword or a set of keywords. Very high density or over stuffing of keywords should also be avoided as it results in search spam by the crawlers. According to most experts, the optimum keyword density should be between 1 to 3 percent.

Carry on with your analysis and derive the best possible information!

Keyword Competition Analyzer

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Keyword analysis is an integral part, while evaluating a website for its search engine optimization. Keyword analysis again includes sub-factors to help you know the status of currently used keywords and to help you choose the new appropriate ones. One of the factors of choosing a good keyword is its competition on the search engines.

Keyword Competition Analyzer tells you the number of pages that are competing for the entered keywords. The results show four forms of data:

  1. Total Pages Competing for the particular keyword with keyword present anywhere in the page (or off page) and in any order
  2. Total Pages Competing for the particular keyword with the keyword present anywhere in the page, in the specific order mentioned (exact match)
  3. Total Pages Competing for the particular keyword with keyword present in page title, in any order
  4. Total Pages Competing for the particular keyword with the keyword present in page title, in the specific order mentioned (exact match)

Now how can this data help you? The competition of a particular keyword helps you to know the number of webpages already using that keyword in the page or the title (competing for that keyword). This means the greater the competition, more will be the efforts required for a page to rank well for that particular keyword. However, a good keyword is not necessarily a keyword with less competition. Choosing a good keyword depends on balancing other factors like monthly searches, type of keyword (e.g. long tail) with its competition.

Good luck with checking competition for your choice of keywords! This tool will surely assist you.
